Ideal: 50–60 characters. Google may rewrite titles outside this range.
Ideal: 120–160 characters. Longer descriptions get truncated with an ellipsis.
Tips for better snippets
- Title: Put the primary keyword near the front. Include your brand at the end with an em dash.
- Description: Write for humans first. Summarize the page value, include a subtle CTA ("Learn more", "See pricing").
- URL: Use hyphens between words. Shorter slugs perform better. Avoid stop words.
- Avoid: Keyword stuffing, duplicate titles across pages, missing meta descriptions (Google will write its own, usually worse).
- Know the limit: Google truncates by pixel width (~600px), not exact character counts. These counters are a reliable approximation.
